Chinook clouds provide warm Winter tempreatures
Calgary Alberta

The largest city in Alberta and the fastest-growing major city in Canada is Calgary, a transportation and financial center for Canada's oil and natural gas industries. Calgary is located in the rolling foothills of the Canadian Rockies, and would take less than an hour's drive to get up close and personal to these towering mountains. Being close to the Canadian Rockies, a popular destination for visitors is Banff National Park – which was Canada 's first national park. Banff features a striking view of beautiful valleys, mountains, glaciers, forests, meadows and rivers.

The Calgary International Airport , just 20 minutes from the city centre, is Western Canada's domestic hub for seven of North America's major airlines and is Canada's third busiest airport, serving more than 8.6 million passengers annually. It is also well connected to international routes, with more than 200 scheduled flights weekly between Calgary and major U.S. cities and more than 25 flights per week to major international destinations.

Calgary 's Weather:

Alberta has more hours of sunshine in a year than any other province in Canada and Calgary is known for its blue skies and white fluffy clouds. Summers are mostly warm with average temperatures around 24 degrees centigrade.  The Winters can be cold at times as temperatures can get down to minus 30.  However, because the Rocky Mountains are located just West of Calgary , they help produce the phenomena known as Chinooks. This unique phenomenon can raise temperatures more than 20 degrees in one day, turning winter days into what seems like spring. Mid Winter temperatures can be minus 30 degrees one day, and the next raise to plus 10 degrees.
